Description

The Fédération Française Motonautique was founded in March 1922 under the name of Fédération française de la navigation automobile, its objective is to supervise and promote the practice of motorboating sport by establishing the regulations and organization of all events that concern it.

Boat racing on the water became popular during the 20th century.

The different disciplines supported by the federation:

Inshore speed boating

Inshore speed motorboating is the queen discipline of motorboating, practiced in lakes and rivers. The development of this activity took place before the Second World War. Today, there are several categories assimilated to those of motorsport, such as the most famous F4, F2000 and F1 in motorboating.

Offshore speed boating

Offshore speed boating is an ancient discipline. As for inshore speed motorboating, its categories are assimilated to those of motor sport. The offshore boat is the product of high technology and is very efficient, powered by extremely powerful engines and can reach up to 85 knots.

The jet

The practice of jet arrived in Europe in 1987. French pilots are known to be among the best in the world. There are 2 types of spray:

- ski: jet with arms which is piloted upright

- runabout: equipped with a saddle, single, two or even four

Officially, jets are called (Nautical Motor Vehicles) and are subject to specific regulations. There are several jet disciplines:

- Speed: it is a fast race on a 1.5 km circuit. 20 pilots compete at the start, the heats of the competition are 15 minutes for jets with arms and 20 minutes for saddle jets, it is made up of 3 heats.

- The rally-raid: is a jet saddle race on a 5 km circuit at sea. The heats are from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the categories with generally 60 people on the starting line with 3 heats to define the classification .

- Endurance: it is a sea race with a distance of 300 km minimum spread over a weekend. 300 competitors can participate at the same time.

- Free-style: in 2 minutes, the pilot must perform a maximum of acrobatics

- Freeride: is a competition of figures on the waves of the ocean.

The P750

This practice was born in the 80s in South Africa with races in rivers of small inflatable boats. Then, these races moved on the beaches, in the waves and the hulls were transformed to look more and more like small catamarans. The different disciplines:

- The M-SHAPE: is a short circuit of 200m by 300m at sea, the boats fly up to 6 meters high.

- The circuit: is a discipline of speed and strategy. On a course of approximately 500m by 500, divided into two parts where the competitors must borrow two distant buoys twice. The boats reach speeds of 110km / h.

- Longhaul / endurance: is a discipline of endurance and strategy. The length of the course is between 80 and 110kms.

Hovercraft

This boat flies over all types of surfaces: sand, snow, swamps ... It is powered by one or more propellers. The different activities in hovercraft are: yachting, raids, concentrations, demonstrations and competitions on rivers and lakes.

Model making

Naval or nautical model making consists in the realization and often the navigation with models of boats. There are 4 categories in this discipline:

- the reproduction of an existing model, having existed or imagined

- speed, electrically powered or with a combustion engine

- the sail, propelled by the force of the wind

- steam

These vessels are built on the basis of construction plans, in wood, glass fabric or carbon. Naval model making is generally radio controlled and you can sometimes also see radio controlled submarines.

Yachting

Recreational boating supervises the use of motorized sports and leisure vehicles moving in an aquatic environment.
